In the summer of 1982, a group of young men and women pooled their resources and bought an old movie ranch in the spectacular red-rock country of southern Utah near the Grand Canyon. Years of trial and tribulation followed, but 21 years later they had built Angel Canyon into the world’s most beloved animal sanctuary and they had pioneered a nationwide campaign to bring an end to the killing of homeless pets in shelters all across the country.
