About Best Friends Animal Society

Best Friends, located in the majestic red-rock country of Utah, is the largest animal sanctuary in the U.S. Established in 1984, the sanctuary today is home to approximately 2,000 abused and abandoned dogs, cats, and other animals from all over the country. Many are adopted quickly; others, who are older or sicker, or who have suffered extra trauma, are given loving care here for the rest of their lives.

Through the Best Friends Network, Best Friends reaches across the nation and around the world. We help communities set up spay/neuter programs, shelters, and foster and adoption programs in their own neighborhoods. Only through outreach and education can we bring about a time when there will be no more homeless pets.
